From Gandalf to Lear... to Dr Who

from this morning's issue of The Press:

"British actor Ian McKellen will lead the Royal Shakespeare Company, in two new productions at the ASB Theatre, in Auckland's Aotea Centre, in August.
The limited season of Shakespeare's King Lear and Chekhov's The Seagull (August 18-26) directed by Trevor Nunn...
Joining McKellen in King Lear is Sylvester McCoy (best known as the seventh doctor in Dr Who) as The Fool. In The Seagull McKellen will play Sorin, a role he will alternate with William Gaunt. The role of Arkadina will be performed by Frances Barber..."

This is so right on so many geek levels for me that I very nearly hyperventilated.
I know where I am gonna be one weekend in August!!

In other excellent geek news:
ARMAGEDDON POP CULTURE EXPO is coming to Chch!!! Finally!!!

I hereby declare this the official Year of the Geek
